A pipe can be defined as a tubular section or hollow cylinder which is mainly used to transfer substances which can flow liquids and gases, masses of small solids, slurries, powders. Excel Metal & Engg  Industries is well known for pipe manufacturing which follows different national & International industrial standards. A pipe is specified by a schedule that defines the thickness and a nominal diameter with a constant outside diameter (OD).We assure our clients that they are getting premium quality pipe assemblies that are always constructed with the use of fittings such as elbows, tees, etc.

A Tube can be defined as having non-cylindrical sections, i.e., square or rectangular tubing. It is specified by the OD and wall thickness, and can be specified by any two of OD, wall thickness, inside diameter (ID).

Manufacturing Process of Seamless, Welded & ERW 

Seamless (SMLS) pipe is formed by drawing a solid billet over a piercing rod to create the hollow shell. As the manufacturing process of seamless pipes does not include any welding they are more stronger, reliable and can withstand pressure. Welded pipe is formed by rolling plate and welding the seam (by Electric Fusion Welding (“EFW”) or Electric resistance welding (“ERW”)). A scarfing blade can be used to remove the weld flash from both inner and outer surfaces. ERW pipes are manufactured by using High Frequency Induction Technology (HFI).

Steel Pipes Specifications

  • ASTM A312 : Seamless and straight-seam welded austenitic pipe intended for high temperature and general corrosive service. Filler metal not permitted during welding.
  • ASTM A790 : Seamless and straight-seam welded ferritic/austenitic (duplex) pipe intended for general corrosive service, with a particular emphasis on resistance to stress corrosion cracking.
  • ASTM A409 : Straight-seam or spiral-seam Electric Fusion welded large diameter austenitic light-wall pipe in sizes 14” to 30” with walls Sch 5S and Sch 10S for corrosive and/or high
  • ASTM A376 : Seamless austenitic pipe for high temperature applications.
  • ASTM A358 : Electric Fusion Welded Austenitic Pipe for corrosive and/or high temperature service. Typically only pipe up to 8 inch is produced to this specification. Addition of filler metal is permitted during welding.
  • ASTM A813 : Single-seam, single- or double- welded austenitic pipe for high temperature and general corrosive applications.
  • ASTM A814 : Cold-worked welded austenitic pipe for high temperature and general corrosive service.
